There are many ways to make money online with your website. You can consider employing a number of them on your website to increase your revenue.

Before we go into specific ways to make money with a website, let’s examine the big picture of making money online because it’s vitally important..

Broadly speaking, you can make money with your website in three ways.

a) Selling physical products:- This refers to tangible products such as perfumes, clothing, antiques, etc.

b) Selling downloadable or digital products:- This include e books, software, videos, audio recordings etc.

c) Selling online services:- You can also make money online with your website by selling or promoting online services such as web hosting, seo, etc.

The big picture of making money online with a website thus comprises of 3 variables which are physical products, downloadable products and services.

Speaking of making money online with a website, let’s now look at specific ways in which you can make money. You’ll notice that they all derive from the big picture we mentioned above.

i) Information products:- You can make money online with your website by providing information that people are searching for online. This could be in the form of e books, videos, audio recordings, membership sites (a nice source of residual income by the way) etc

ii) Affiliate marketing:- You can also make a killing by promoting affiliate products and programs on your website. There are lots of super-affiliates who rake in cool 5 to 6 figure incomes online affiliate marketing.

iii) Advertising space:- You can also make money with your website by selling advertising space to related businesses and websites. You can sell space for banner ads or text link ads.

iv) Contextual ads:- You can also earn money with your website by integrating contextual ads in the content or copy of your website. The most common contextual ad networks are Google adsense and Kontera. Of the two, Google adsense is by far the most popular.

v) Selling physical products:- You can also make money online with your website by selling physical products such as guitars, car wax etc. Alternatively, you can start an online store selling physical products.

vi) Dropshipping:- This easily overlaps with no (v) above . However, instead of doing everything yourself, you take orders and payments, then forward them to a dropshipping company which handle all the logistics on your behalf and the best part, delivers the products to your customers, completely with the details of your company. Sweet, huh!

There you have it, a list of ways, to make money with your website. The list is not thoroughly exhaustive, but for the sake of brevity and this post not being 3000 words long, these are enough to get you off.

After the huge success of Web 2.0 applications like social networking, rich media, blogs etc, many people are wondering about the Web 3.0 applications. People are thinking about the potential of Web 3.0 to revolutionize the web.

Internet experts believe that Mobile applications are expected to play a big role in Web 3.0 as many companies are building upon apps allowing consumers to locate friends through their mobiles in their local area.

They believe that Web 3.0 browser will act like a personal assistant and will perform tasks like search for movies and food faster and easier.

It will analyze the response of its users from its records and will search the Internet for all possible answers and it then gives them the organized results. Users might be able to ask browsers open questions like “where should I go for lunch?” and Web 3.0 browser would consult users records for likes or dislikes, taken into account of the user current location it then suggests a list of restaurants.

Some of the world’s largest technology companies like Google and Apple have already launched their smart phone handsets and Google has also made mobile numbers mandatory for signing up for a new Google account; this gives us the idea of the importance of mobile phones in Web 3.0.

For businesses in the social space this could be incredibly helpful not only in staying on track, but in measuring how brands are engaging consumers. One part of this is measuring how effective social campaigns are in pushing the envelope to build more recognition.

http://www.solsnet.com is a Toronto based web design house.

With the advent of internet, the gurus have diligently striven to merge technologies together to come up with innovative methods that will let us manage, distinguish and organize complex information and objects with just a few clicks. Web 2.0 has expanded internet’s scope of possibilities from being One-way Street to the point of interaction between different worlds (literally), where you could share immense firsthand information with the world transforming it into factual knowledge for others. Folksonomy is exactly the phrase that sums it up to define the Social Media boom that we are witnessing, a trend and a platform where information is channelized and shared.

Folksonomy is the way people classify and categorize information on the web through tagging. As the tags achieve prominence through software that allows users to interact and share data, it becomes a system of classification for an entire community rather than a single person. The search engines receive a higher number of marking in form of tags which highlight a particular key word in that website. In return every link, tag and heading is counted as a vote in search engines. Thus, optimizing the relevance of that website and bringing it to the top of the table.

Internet Social Marketing is on the rise and Search Engine Optimization is the key to success for any website out there to make the most out of everything they put on their page. A good web design with impeccable functionality is important but an intelligently placed content, blogs and tags will result in achieving better ranking on the World Wide Web. Hence, looking for a firm that caters and ensures that top ranking along with a remarkable design can be an uphill task to find the right combination. So here at Net4Sale we provide all the ingredients that promise immaculate designs and smart placements of Folksonomy for the community in a web page securing top positions in your related field of expertise.

The main reason you would have set up a Web site would be to generate hits. This holds true for company web sites, blogs, ecommerce sites, etc. and it is particularly important for a small business. Maybe you are getting hits, but it does not translate to the kind of traffic you need for your business. So, what do you do next?

You can check out your Web site statistics, and maybe you will see a pattern emerging. Do all your visitors exit the site immediately after viewing the home page? If they do, something is radically wrong with your Web design. A developer with insufficient experience can make a lot of mistakes that can result in chasing visitors away from your site. This would make building the Web site an exercise in futility. You will be glad to know that there are others who share this problem with you. You will be even gladder to know that this problem can be solved – fairly economically and easily.

Here are some of the key problem areas in the Web design of Web sites built by inexperienced developers:

1. Abuse of Multimedia

Multimedia undoubtedly enhances a web site and makes it that much more attractive for site viewers than using plain text and images. However, using audio, video or animation can create obstacles for visitors to a web site if the Web design has not been properly implemented.

The other problem is that all visitors to your site will not have the same kind of connection speed, plug-ins, screen resolution or browser as you have. In other words, you need to take all these factors into account. The navigation on your web site should ideally not be in Flash (animation) and you should stick to images or text. Nothing is more discouraging than to visit a web site and being faced by a lot of X’s with no navigation options. Even if you let your audience download Flash, they just might find it easier to visit your competitors site. So another prospective customer bites the dust due to ineffective Web design.

Now, as far as plug-ins are concerned, they aren’t always a problem but the connection speed can be a problem. A small piece of animation can easily be 4 or 5 MB’s, hence a dial-up connection may take anywhere between 20 and 40 minutes to download it properly.

Another word of caution – a video intro may be a bad idea. Even if you provide a ‘skip intro’ button, it still may be wiser to communicate your message on your home page in a way that the visitor sees it right away with the least delay and effort.

2. The Problem with Adobe Acrobat

If you place Adobe Acrobat (PDF) files on your Web site, the process will slow down even more. A cable or DSL connection notwithstanding, downloading a large file will take ages. Your viewer may not even have the right Acrobat Reader version which could also throw a spanner in the works.

Of course, you may have to place some information in PDF because it needs to be printed out and mailed. However, you should ideally place everything on a regular Web page if you can. And a PDF may not be located by a search engine. Effective Web design should take this factor into account.

3. Stock Photographs

Many Web designers try to save money by using stock photographs off the Net. Stock photographs can be accessed by anyone and can be used for any purpose. If the images used by you are commonly used across the internet, they will make your web page look commonplace.

4. Disadvantages of Free Fonts

Again, many designers use free fonts to save money regardless of whether they suit the design or not. This comes in the way of your website looking unique and interesting. It also makes it evident that the web designer was attempting to cut costs while designing your website.

5. Content Heavy Pages

It is quite common to see designers cramming pages with content in order to reduce the total number of pages on a site. This can result in the creation of very heavy pages that take time to load and open, and effectively put people off from staying on your Web site. This is an important aspect of Web design as it affects your communication objectives.

6. Template Trouble

Many Web designers try to cut corners and save on time and expense by using standardized templates which are available online. The problem with these templates is that they are generic, commonly used by many sites and have no distinct personality of their own which would represent the identity of your business or site. It is much wiser to design the look and feel of your site based on your company’s image, this is a priority in Web design and should result in a design that would be unique to your Web site.

7. The Importance of Code

Rookie designers are known to try and take the easy way out by using a design code that is known to ‘work’ rather than opting for a more complicated code that may be required for the site. This can result in making your Web site look amateurish and unprofessional and defeats the purpose of investing in Web design.

8. Irregular Updates

It is very important for a Web site to constantly provide new, updated content. Having to read the same information can pall on people and after a while they will simply stop visiting your site. So you will need to have a design that lends itself easily to regular updates with fresh content to attract repeat viewership.

These are basically the most common mistakes made in Web design, although you may have problems that are more specific to your Web site and not so generic in nature. But it would be worth addressing these issues at an early stage in order to build up traffic on your site.

The quality of your sales copy is just as important as your product. It wouldn’t matter even if you had the best product/offer in the world if your sales copy can’t persuade the prospects to buy your product(s)

There are several components of your sales copy that you need to pay close attention to:

Your headline: The headline is the most important part of your sales copy. Your headline should capture the attention of the visitors and suck them into the body of your sales copy.

Remember that you have only ten seconds at most to capture the attention of your prospects or they will simply click away. You can easily achieve that by having the greatest benefit of your product in the headline of your sales copy.

You can also include a startling revelation/fact or a warning to capture the attention of your prospects and keep them reading.

Put simply, the headline should be benefit driven, attention grabbing and made to persuade the reader of your sales copy to keep reading.

Bullets: You should use bullets to highlight the benefits of your product(s). You see, most people will not read the sales copy but rather skim through it and bullets enable you to focus their attention on the benefits of your product.

Benefits Vs features: Focus on the benefits of using your product as opposed to the features of your product. For example, the phrase “comfortable mattress” describes a feature but “Wake up relaxed and ready to face the day ahead” goes further to show the benefits of the feature. Don’t assume the prospect already knows.

Bolding and highlighting: Use bolding and highlighting to emphasize important points or phrases. Highlighting in yellow always seems to work best. However, don’t overdo it or you will lose the intended purpose in the first place.

Call to action: You should have a strong call to action throughout your sales copy. For example, you can include such calls to action as “Click here to unlock your potential right now!” or “Click here to discover the secrets now!” You should also create a sense of urgency so that your prospects are motivated to take action right away.

Writing a good sales copy is one thing that you must invest your time to learn and practice if you are to make good money online. Of course it takes some time to perfect your sales copy writing but one thing is also that you can always get better if you are willing to take action and learn progressively.

Kevin Njoroge has been online since 2006 and has learnt what works and what doesn’t in building a successful business online. He has made it his goal to help others achieve financial freedom with their own successful online businesses and live the lives they have always dreamed of.

Most people don’t even put a headline on their website pages. And this is one of the biggest copywriting mistakes I see. Why do I say that?

Because research shows you have 3-5 seconds to convince a visitor that you have the solution to their problem. If there’s no headline at the top of the page to grab their attention, their eyes will begin to wander all over the page trying to decide what to look at. If they haven’t figured out in that 3-5 seconds of wandering around that you’ve got their solution, they are going to click out and move to the next site in the Google SERPs.

“But I tell them all about my great widgets and all the wonderful things they can do in my page copy.”

And there’s another part of the problem. There’s an old saying in marketing. “People don’t buy the drill; they buy the hole.” In other words, they simply don’t care about your company or your widget. They just want to know if you understand their problem and can solve it.

Does your copy tell them that in 3-5 seconds? And without a headline, what will grab their attention when they get to the page and get them to read the copy even if you did write it well?

Let’s talk about headlines…

Okay, I think we’ve established that a “killer” headline is mandatory. So how do write a headline that grabs their attention and forces them to read the copy? Here are some great formats for an attention-grabbing headline. If you use one of these formats every time you write a headline for a web page, website article or blog post, you will guarantee plenty of attention.

Try one of these “killer” headline formats next time you write website copy:

They laughed when I sat down at the piano…but when I began to play!

Multiply the response rates of your…

Franklin introduces…The most efficient transducer money can buy!

Unlike our competitors, this isn’t the first time we’ve designed a phone system.

A whole new way to polish titanium!

Discover the secret to creating your own electroplating system!

There can be only one top-of-the-line copier…and you’re looking at it!

Top ten questions you need to ask your accounting firm…

Last chance to get a new car at used car prices.

Why 4 out of 5 engineers use Hewlett-Packard calculators…

Why would we give our accounting software away for free?

Introducing painless cost-cutting for dentists…

The 5 Tech Stocks You MUST Own Now!

Can you really get your next evening out free?

Don’t buy a car until you’ve read this report!

Order now and get $280 in freebies!

Whenever you get any kind of direct mail or catalog with a great headline, save it. Or if you see a website headline that really grabs your attention, copy it and put it in a “cheat” file. That way, when you need to write a headline, you’ll have a bunch of professionally written headlines to “steal” ideas from.
