How about a visitor poll to help determine demographics and what visitors want to read about? I think users are more likely to fill out a poll than an optin offer.

Hi John,

I liked your points but I'm surprised that most of the e commerce website owners don't put a blog or don't post articles regularly.

A blog can be a very powerful tool for marketing if used wisely. A blog must provide valuable information. This will make visitors come back again and again.

Thanks,
Angelina

I don't want to say I agree like everyone else so I won't say either way. What I will contribute, on this fine blog, is some corrective criticism and I will let you decide if you want to share this splice of advice to the world and let them bask in the enlightenment or not. Okay, so I noticed in the beginning that you started telling us why it is so important to add a blog to our Ecommerce site and you used one paragraph for this which is great because you had my attention through the whole paragraph but then you said "Why?" This is essential for the following reasons." Okay, I really wanted to know why it is so important for me to have a blog on my ecommerce site and you could of had me continue but what follows is two reasons that go as far as blogs are cheap and fast to make and the third I can let ride. The third reason seems pretty decent but you lost me on the first two. Don't half your work, you got something here. These people typing "good work" and "great job"...Take them off your blog. Their input is garbage. Absolutely trash. Let them get angry, they've contributed nothing but taking up space on your nice template. It's like a dog giving you the poop with no scoop. The truth hurts and on that sweet note, angry visitors are return visitors. Honestly, You may think it looks good but it only tells experienced users that these people did not read your blog and that is bad. Why you ask? (Now I will follow with a real reason, hint hint)... because experienced users will ultimately leave. They don't have time to sift through that nonsense or read about blogs are cheap and easy and fun to make. Wow, Yipeeeee'all in my pants... An experienced user does not allow irrelevant spam on his site. Okay, so these are just some suggestions. You can toss my suggestion or you can post it. However, either way, if you take my advice I'm sure it will help. I hope it does. Well, best of luck my friend.

PS. I usually charge for this kind of prime advice. ;)

Yes, yes and yes. Good points all. You've hit the nail right smack on the head. There is a fine line, however, between good blogging and bad blogging, and not every client understands the difference.

i agree with you. The most important reason is "Search engines love blogging" but yeah, you also need to do posting on regular basis.
