I have to agree that simple logo designs work better with the eyes and memory. But some companies or individuals like to have fancy logo to represent their business. In my personal opinion, those who'd like to get their logo designed should consider having a logo that looks good not only on their website but also on their stationary like letterheads, business cards, and envelops, too.
