For some reason, on the single post pages, the Featured Post does not limit the characters to 300 like specified in code. How do I fix this? It works fine on the index page.

This is a very good looking theme but I have the same problem with the featured post. In the main page it works a charm but on the articles it does not limit the feature post.
the header.php (where it limits the content) is the same for both main and article pages right?

I had the same problem … In the WP admin – go to “settings” then “permalinks”. Change the setting from default to the next radio button down “Day and Name”. Save the settings. That seems to do the trick.

The header menu does not work properly in Opera 9.64
Having entered my adsense pub- ID I cannot get any ads displaying. They work using the tweetmeblue theme but not this one.. Any ideas???

I’m having issues with the dreaded white screen when I activate this theme. It’s not a memory issue in my php.ini file. I’ve also tried uninstalling all plugins except those required by this theme.

We are using WordPress 2.7.1 .. After activating this theme I don’t get the options area in the admin.. and the RSS feed is corrupt shows:

I installed it using 2.7.1 and there is no options area. Also the Featured Post words runs down into the main post area whenever you click on individual posts.
Nice theme & it’s working fine over @ my end.
Couple of questions:
1- How can I remove “Advertise Here” link above the sidebar? I want to add the stuff manually.
2- I’ve installed the FeatureMe Plugin but I can’t seem to locate it & It shows random posts as featured posts.

Hi. First off, I like this theme. So, thank you for creating a simple and clean design.
However, there appears to be a problem in FireFox where the Search Box and the Twitter Logo drop out. It happens on your site and mine too. So, I know its likely a template or CSS issue.
Any ideas on how I can fix this?

I figured it out. In case anyone else comes across this …
In the main stylesheet (style.css) line 163 add a width property to the #header_right of … width:307px; (that’s the width of the main search box).
Then for the board_twitter style (line 221) add a width property there too (width:273px;) that’s the width of the “twitter image”.
That seems to correct the problem in FireFox.
Again, I like this template — it’s easy to work with. Nice job.
Thx for this theme, John. It works very well for me. There is a little issue with the featured post if you use plugins – like TweetMeme – that add javascript code to posts.
On my homepage I wrote a small article how to fix this bug.

I noticed a couple of items that I could use your help with:
1. On the home page the Featured Text limits itself to a certain number of characters (I found that in the header.php). But, when I click to a sub-page the Featured Text no longer limits (or I should say ‘hides’ the text). It’s working fine on your demo. I’m wondering if I need to get the Featured Post Plugin that you use for the DynaBlue template? Any help – appreciated.
2. Sometimes even though a post is completely visible and readable – at the bottom it still says “Continue Reading”. How does it know whether or not to display this link? And is there a way to not show the link if it’s not needed.

I have the same issue.
When I am on the home page, the sidebar appears.
When I click on an article to read the whole thing (or “continue reading”) the sidebar is gone.
Not sure why, is it a possible problem with adSense?

Does anyone know how I can limit the posts on the front page? I would rather just the first paragraph of the post be shown and then readers click the “Continue Reading” button.
I’ve tried the ‘Summery’ option in the Settings section of the admin panel but that made no difference.

Let’s start with saying that I love all of your theme.. I bought a theme to start redesigning my theme, but, in this case, redtime convinced me to go for this awesome theme..
Got one question for this theme..
Is it possible to add the ‘Featureme’ function instead of the ‘random post’ in this theme? If it is, how will I fix this exactly.. Offcourse installed the plugin, know that i have to change something in the header.php en probably style.css, but need some directions there..

Its not a plugin, you can enable it in setting->discussion in admin section

I want to select which post is featured, not simply have it be the most recent one. Is there a way to manually control this?
This theme shows random posts
This theme would be 1000X better if the featured post wasn’t random. By setting it to random, you really take away the point of a featured post. You’re not featuring anything, just letting the site randomly pick a post.
Is there a way to fix this? Can I limit the # of posts that the program can select featured posts from?

maybe your host and the themes are not compatible
Solution 1: Replace all short opening tags “<?" to "<?php".
For example, take a closer look at line 23 of index.php, and change to .
Solution 2: Open php.ini and set “short_open_tag = On”
By the way, make sure that there is no empty space before at the top and bottom of php files.

It should work fine, use the ‘HTML’ editor (adjacent to ‘Visual’ editor) and press the button ‘more’ on the tag menu. It should place the ‘more tag’ where your cursor is located.

Heads up to Todd for that workaround regarding ‘Featured Post’ issue when reading individual posts. Permalinks structure based on the second option will do the trick, the ‘Default’ structure just won’t work. I’ll try to dig the code, and if lucky enough, find a resolution for this wonderful theme to work with ‘Default’ structure permalinks.
How do you change the image for each user when they leave a comment?
images are from gravatar, so if they have a gravatar account, their image shows up

That’s because it’s a random post, not a featured post… So only a change when a page is refreshed move to the next post/page..
This solution works indeed, but also with all the other permalink structures. The ‘Day and name’ is the mos optimal structure for your links..

I’m having issues with the Sidebar. When I’m at the “Home” page, I see the sidebar just fine. When I click on a post or click “continue reading” the page loads without the sidebar.
This is making it very difficult to retain visitors. My Sidebar includes a lot of interactive widgets. Do you know what may be causing this?

That doesn’t happen with default redtime, so it must be something you did….
That’s what I thought it might be, maybe a plugin that’s causing it. I’ll reply here if I find out what it is.
How to remove the adsense banners again? I filled in my adsense code.. but it is a bit too much advertisems..

I’ve just installed this them on one of my sites (www.greenhouselimerick.com) and really like it.
However one of the things that seems to be missing are the ads in the right hand column. I also cannot find a configuration screen for this anywhere.

Which files specifically should I be looking for each of these? I’m having troubling figuring out which file I should edit.
Yes, I am having the same issue – on the screenshots it shows ad banners, and on the download page it says you can see options for these. In WP Admin there is no options page, only two are shown – for Twitter and for Pages. Is this a bug, or is the screenshot incorrect?

When I click “Link Categories” under WP Admin I don’t see any of the Link Categories present on my page. It shows an entirely different link category name than that which is present on my page (Blogroll instead of Partner Links). I can’t seem to change the name or associate the links with different categories in WP Admin.
Thanks for this great theme. One tip if you want to control the featured posts easily you can customize the theme so that featured posts are only pulled from one category. First create a new category called “Featured” and assign the posts to it that you want to be rotated as the featured post. (You can even have just one if you want a static featured post)
Next edit the file /wp-content/themes/redtime/header.php:
The line under Featured Posts looks like this:
WP_Query(“showposts=1&orderby=rand”)
Change it to this:
WP_Query(“category_name=featured&showposts=1&orderby=rand”)
you can see “category_name=featured” limits the result to only those in that category.

Having a bit of trouble with the featured post section though. The text spills over into the post section underneath. Also, can’t seem to get my 125×125 banners any further left in the sidebar.
Any clues?

I’ve been using this theme for a while now and I’m consistently having the same issue with the tag.
My posts, no matter how long or short, will sometimes show the entire post with the comments box at the bottom, and sometimes the comments box will only appear when the reader clicks on “continue reading”. Occasionally the post itself is also truncated.
I’ve experimented with placing the tag in various positions within the HTML of the post, including at the very end, but it continues to be very erratic.
Is there a work-around for this or a set number of characters that triggers the “continue reading” button?
The tags I’m talking about are the “” tags. They disappeared when I posted the message above…
and again??? It’s the “” tags

I think this theme is great, i only had one problem with it and that was the feaured posts part overflowing. But i fixed that by just changing the permalinks to date/name.

And a little note from me to any others who use this theme. If your having problems its most likely a plugin conflicting with the theme. Deactivate them before posting all these negative comments.

With firefox, i’ve just close the AdBlock Plus Engine and the 125 Ads work fine.

when i add html code into post it displays, but it overlaps the post below it. any fix? its just a few divs so i can change text format and size of all my posts with a css file.

The theme itself works with 3.0, but most of the setting options that you describe above don’t appear. Under RedTime>General Settings> all I see is a place to enter my Twitter ID. Under RedTime>Page Settings> I don’t have any options. I don’t see options for 125×125 ads or options to set featured posts so that they aren’t just random.
Is there a file that contains all labels in case I want to set it in another language?

Hi! I installed this Theme today (looks great!) but the only option available in the Dashboard is my Twitter Account name. (I installed V1.1 from the Themes library in the Dashboard with WP 3.1).
How can I change/add the banners?
And do you need an AdSense Account for the built in banners?
Sorry, just found this: The Featured Post on top shows “Share this:FacebookEmailShareStumbleUponDiggRedditPrint” on all pages except the front homepage. I installed the JetPack Plugins for sharing buttons.
